The Waterview, Waterfront and Garden View Suites

Air-conditioned, single-story junior suites, with 700 square feet and classic Caribbean-style architecture and décor, all with private verandahs offering beautiful water views through sliding-glass doors. Dining

The Verandah offers a range of dining experiences in three exciting restaurants, operated under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Ronaldo Collantes, a native of the Philippines. All three restaurants are centered in an expansive, centrally located activities complex on The Common, overlooking the pool and manicured grounds. It's a meeting spot for old friends as well as a place to make new ones.

SeaBreeze

• The resort's main restaurant, seats 100 guests and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers a wide range of buffet-served choices that are sure to please guests of all ages. The lovely, open-air dining room is enhanced by light pine pergolas, ceiling fans and exposed beams and dark wood, with lofty vaulted ceilings for an airy, outdoor feeling.

Nicole's

• The fine-dining restaurant offers a blend of stylishly presented, Caribbean-inflected cuisine. Warm red walls and dark wood trim create a cozy ambience, and rattan, bamboo and soft upholstered furnishings create a welcoming, Caribbean feel. (For a $25 surcharge, you can celebrate that special occasion or romantic evening looking out at the Caribbean Sea.)

The Buccaneer

• The casual and fun Buccaneer serves lighter, family-friendly fare with an alternative a la carte menu, as well as afternoon tea from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Dress Code: At The Verandah Resort & Spa, a 'Summer Casual' dress code for evening dining will apply. At Nicole's Restaurant, dress is elegant (long pants and collared shirt). Ripped Jeans, Flip Flops, all Beachwear, T'Shirts and Sneakers are not considered 'Summer Casual'.

• Guests who don't wish to stray far from the pool can cool off at the Pool Bar, outfitted in natural stone, in keeping with the surroundings. The expansive and centrally located main lounge also overlooks the pool and winding, limestone-walled pathways of the Common. It's the place where guests can meet and socialise, with fun and refreshment on tap for both daytime and night, with décor that blends roughhewn dark pine with sleek granite.

Beach Bar & Grill

• Perched above Lover's Beach is the relaxing Beach Bar & Grill, offering killer views of the entire cove, light lunch, snacks, beer and nonalcoholic beverages. It's the ideal place to pull up a barstool, kick off your flip-flops and enjoy the fresh sea breeze.

Facilities

The Verandah Resort & Spa caters to all ages. The Verandah lies adjacent to a National Park and its grounds incorporate marked nature trails, two soft white-sand beaches and tranquil waters on a protected covelike bay - just perfect for swimming or snorkeling in its crystal-clear waters. The resort's expansive, shimmering free-form pool is the island's largest, an excellent spot for lounging in the sun or enjoying a cooling dip.

The Verandah offers nonmotorized water sports, including windsurfing, Sunfish sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, and hobie-style catamaran sailing. On land, guests can partake in tennis and table tennis, or enjoy the spacious, well-equipped fitness center. Younger guests are sure to enjoy fun and games at the beautiful Kid's Club. Guests can also enjoy a short walk to the nearby historic Devil's Bridge attraction for excellent photo opportunities. Swim & Snorkel

With its two white-sand beaches, Verandah guests can soak up the sun on the comfortable beach loungers and cool down with frequent dips in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. The tranquil, protected cove-like bay makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

While at the beach, why not take advantage of complimentary non-motorized water activities such as kayaking, windsurfing, hobby cat sailing and paddle boats. All of the equipment can be found at the Water Sports Centre and if you're new at any of the sports, instructors are ready to help you get on your way.

Dive

For those who want to really explore beneath the surface, diving is available at the sister resort, St James's Club which offers guests excursions to more than 20 dive sites. Instruction is available for beginner and advanced divers, as well as for children aged 10 and up. Equipment rental is included in the price for instruction. Single-tank, two-tank and night dives are available for an additional charge.

Diving sites include Cades Reef, part of an underwater park, and the wreck of the Andes, a three-mast merchant ship that sank more than a century ago.

The Mamora Bay Divers Dive Shop is a locally owned company of experienced PADI certified international divers located at the St. James's Club providing a full service dive shop.

The open water dive instructor, Linda Swann is the multilingual certified PADI Dive instructor, she offers over 15 years of experience with over 10,000 dives under her belt. Golf

Golfers can perfect their strokes at two 18-hole courses. The Cedar Valley Golf Course, designed by Ralph Aldridge, is an 18-hole, 6,157 yard, par-70 course with beautiful greens and sweeping views of the surrounding hilltops and the Caribbean sea. The 5,587 yard, par-71 Karl Litton-designed Jolly Harbor Golf Club course offers challenging play and a lovely setting, with seven lakes and hilly fairways surrounded by tropical greenery. After your game, there is excellent shopping nearby, as well as several beaches.

Fitness Center

The Verandah's spacious onsite gym, replete with Cybex cardio, treadmills, weight-training machines and free-weight equipment will help keep your routine on track while you're away from home. You can keep an eye on your form with full-length, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, fluffy towels and chilled water provided at the gym.

Spa Tranquility

Spa Tranquility is an elegantly appointed hideaway for pampering and restorative treatments. Surrounded by French doors that let in the light and beautiful outdoor views, guests are greeted by soothing sounds and a relaxing cup of herbal tea. The décor is serene, with natural elements such as rattan, sea grass, wood and cool, glowing white tile.
