Our Wedding Co-Ordinator, Kirsty, recently jetted off to gather some Mexico destination wedding tips. Find out what she discovered here…
Our first hotel of the trip was the beautiful Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun. About 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport, this makes it a great option for those who hate sitting on a transfer bus for forever and a day!
If you want an adults only occasion then check out Paramour French restaurant. A stunning range of French delacies offers that high-end feel to your special day. Kid’s will not be allowed in receptions taking place here.
The Beaches in Mexico are not private but the Wedding Coordinators at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun do their best to keep any interlopers away. My favourite location here was without a doubt the beach – the resort is framed by a stunning white sandy beach. A perfect backdrop to that Mexico Destination Wedding you’ve always dreamt of. Take advantage of the plethora of other facilities on offer in the beautiful resort large pool area, spa, water sports and even a fitness centre if you want to stay slim for the big day.
I think I can only sum this resort up using one word: Stunning.
Fringed by crystal clear blue Caribbean waters and quite simply the best beach I have ever come across. The beach has won numerous awards over the years for being one of the best in the world. It’s easy to see why! The ambience of the resort itself was relaxed and catered to couples and groups of friends.
Another great Mexico destination wedding tip is: a Wedding Gazebo! The gazebo at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun is a great example of this. You’ve got cover from the hot sunshine and still absolutely stunning views out to the ocean. This hotel allows a maximum of three weddings per day. The terrace outside the Portofino restaurant is a great spot for a reception as it’s a sizeable space and overlooks the relaxing spa.
I absolutely adored Dreams Riviera Cancun. The Weddings Team were absolutely super. They work hard to put you completely at ease in the knowledge that they’re committed and love their jobs.
In terms of destination wedding locations here I think you’d be spoilt for choice! Choose from the Wedding Gazebo, Beach or the Lobby Staircase. The Lobby Staircase is a different option because it’s very grand and perfect for photographs! It’s also likely not to be too busy around this area during the daytime. There is the option to use the Pool Jacuzzi area for your cocktail hour which is a great setting and is amazing for photos.
Dreams Riviera Cancun also features a Wine Cellar which was stunning, and can be used for a wedding Reception! We enjoyed a delectable feast. If you’re looking for a well situated resort, for your Mexico Destination Wedding, that caters well for families, but has adults only hotels nearby, Dreams Riviera Cancun is a perfect option to celebrate your Wedding.
The Now Jade, the sister hotel to the Now Sapphire, is minutes away from the small fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Located on a white sandy beach, the hotel is modern and ideally placed for exploring the resorts around. Here you can get married in the gardens, on the beach, under the pergola or by the fountain. The fountain was lovely as it’s located just outside the reception area and still has stunning ocean views and looks great for photographs! For me one of my favourite things about the Now Jade was the fact that in their Weddings Room they had a small showroom to the back which is made up like a set up would be on the beach and is filled with sand! It will hold 10-15 passengers so it’s ideal for rehearsals and is used as a back up location for smaller parties if the weather isn’t going quite as planned!

- Each resort is ruled by a different Judge, therefore legalities and costs can differ.
- Most resorts only require your passports and tourist cards to perform a wedding. However this is subject to change and is different at every resort. We recommend checking with your Wedding Coordinator for the most up to date info.
- There are charges for the blood tests, validation & translation of your Marriage Certificate. Plus the transportation of the Judge and City Hall & Court Fees. Each resort has different charges which can be determined on request (again, subject to change).
- As a general rule, allow four working days to meet with your Wedding Coordinator on arrival and to carry out the blood tests. Weekends and Holidays do not count as a residency period (especially important to note at Christmas and Easter).
