This was our first holiday to Mexico, we stayed on the Riviera Maya which we found was an ideal place to relax with direct access to the beach which stretches for miles. The hotel is only a 25 min taxi into Cancun where you can find all the nightlife and shopping malls.
Arrival
On our arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and taken to the Excellence Club lounge to check in. The staff were very proffesional, taking our luggage and showing us the location and facilities the hotel had to offer.
Accomodation
We stayed in an Excellence Club Ocean View Junior Suite, We were extremely impressed with the suite and thought it was very spacious. The suite was well equipped and had everything that we needed. There is even an ice machine on every floor.
Restaurants
The hotels restaurants offer a wide selection and cater for every need. The service and presentation was exceptional. We dined in every restaurant with our favourites being the Spice (Asian Cuisine) Chez Isabelle (French Cuisine )
On arrival at Chez Isabelle we were told there would be a wait and were given our own beeper. We sat had a drink and within 15minutes it went off. We thought this was a great idea.
Activities
There are plenty of activities on offer throughout the course of the day. We liked the Excellence Newsletter we recieved each night in our suite and which detailed the activities for the following day. The weather forecast it offered for the following day left a lot to be desired, just like home really !
Beach / Pool
Wherever you are in the hotel, the ambiance is very laid back. If you love peace and quiet, it is in abundance while the livelier guests will love the swim-up pool bar. The bar and pool staff were very helpful when we needed anything. The beach was great and is furnished to a very high standard
Evening Entertainment
We thought the shows that we were able to see were very good with a wide variety,however we could have done with the shows starting a little later as they seemed to be finished by the time we had eaten dinner. My hot tip here is to check out the start time of any particular show you would like to see
Jumbo Tours
Our Representatives in resort were Jumbo Tours. They are very well organized, very knowledgeable and were very prompt on both arrival and departure transfers. Their Representative visits the hotel on 6 days of the week each day to assist with any issues, which we found very useful.
Overall we were extremely impressed with what the hotel has to offer and would strongly recommend it to others. We found Mexico to be a great place to holiday for all types and look forward to returning.
