This wasn’t the first time I have been to Mexico; however it was the first time at this hotel.

El Dorado Royale is a lovely 5* adults only hotel. We arrived at the resort having been transferred from the airport by Jumbo Tours to be greeted with a fab glass of cold champagne. After checking in we were given an Ocean Front Suite at the furthest end of the resort. We were taken by golf buggy and at the same time given a tour of the property.

This is a very large hotel with extensive gardens and what seemed like an endless amount of swimming pools. This suited me as I am a pool person and not a beach person!!!

Our suite had the most amazing Jacuzzi which I have to say is probably one of the largest room Jacuzzi’s I have seen. We also had a king size bed, large plasma TV and mini bar restocked daily (what more can you ask for!!). 24hr room service was also included. We had stunning views over the ocean.

Our first night there we decided to eat at the Caribbean restaurant and the food was great so much so that we also had 2 lunches there and another evening meal during our stay. The Mexican Restaurant was also fabulous and they also did live cooking shows on a screen in there. My husband’s favourite restaurant was the Italian and again we did go there twice during our stay.

Our days were taken up by lazing around the pool and on the days that we had some bad weather we were joined by other brits at the pool bar!!

The beach is a little rocky at this property but you can use the beach and the snorkeling was really good from the beach.

If you didn’t feel like walking around the resort you could just go to one of the many buggy stops and just like buses they would take you around the resort.

One of the best things that I found with this resort was the evening entertainment. In Mexico a lot of hotels are let down by the entertainment but this hotel seems to have got it right. They had a fabulous Jamaican band on one night and everyone got really involved, so much so that you could hear people saying that they now wanted to go to Jamaica. The outdoor entertainment centre was used all the time and at 6pm every night they always had a movie on.

On our next to last day we found a beautiful health bar which did gorgeous fruit juices and loads of fruit by a really small quiet pool but it also did the most tasty home made ice cream which in the last couple of days we ate more than enough to make up for not finding it till so late.

We didn’t have the best weather here but that didn’t seem to worry us as the resort had so much more to offer. We had a lovely time.
