After chilling out in Los Angeles, living the surfer lifestyle for a couple of days, Kirsty hopped over to Las Vegas to experience all the glitz and glamour that the city has to offer.
Day Four
Another early wake-up, but this time with good reason – a stroll on the beach and last minute shopping before boarding the luxury minibus for our drive to Las Vegas!
The drive took approximately 3 and half hours, including a pit stop at one of the true All-American diners. Once we arrived into Las Vegas we were checked in at the monolithic structure known as the MGM Grand Hotel. Check-in was quick and efficient and the staff were extremely friendly. The room was very modern and much larger than expected, with 2 queen beds and a view of the world famous Las Vegas Strip! Once the rush to unpack and ended, me and a few of the other girls decided to go on the roller-coaster at the New York, New York Hotel before browsing the premium outlet mall for some top notch retail therapy. The mall had something for everyone and it was almost half the price compared to the UK prices – bargain! After a few hours of meandering from one shop to another, we returned to the hotel to freshen up before heading to the Flamingo hotel for a delightful night of drinks and dancing the night away.
Day Five
We were awoken by the beautiful sunrise through our windows so we got up, had breakfast and headed to a conference we needed to attend for the day. Once we were released to our own agenda again, we headed back the hotel to freshen up for the evening schedule. The evenings plans involved a trip to the Venetian hotel to take part in a hosted dinner at Buddy V’s – the restaurant of the guy off the show Cake Boss! The was a splendid and varied choice on the menu and the food was outstanding.
Once dinner had gone down we had a tour around the Venetian which was simply beautiful. It felt just like you were in Venice, including having gondolas where they sung to you! It felt as if you were outside as the ceilings were painted with a blue sky and clouds and lighted to match the time of the day. Each and every room at this hotel is a suite, so you get a living area as well as a humongous king bed. This would be great choice if you are celebrating something special or are a couple wanting a romantic getaway. Once the tour was complete, we headed over to the Mirage hotel where we had the pleasure of seeing Love, a Cirque De Soleil Show which incorporated a variety of the Beetles famous soundtracks. This was an upbeat, fun and entertaining show which was a perfect match to the overall experience of being in Vegas.
Day Six
This was sadly our last full day in Vegas, so we decided to enjoy the sunshine and make the most of the pool facilities at the MGM grand. There was a plethora of different pools, even a lazy river where you could hire a rubber ring to relax on! The vibe of this hotel was great for couples, friends and singles, all wanting to have a great time. Once we had caught our fair share of rays and the evening had rolled around, everyone met up for a meal hosted by the MGM Grand. The meal took place at the Fiamma Trattoria which was an intimate Italian restaurant and was quite possibly my favourite meal of the whole trip! The wonderful thing about all of the hotels in Vegas is there is always plenty of sumptuous restaurants and a myriad shops available. After the superb meal we made our way to the Bellagio fountains where we watched the spectacular fountain show. I would recommend going to see these on the hour as the display lasts up to 3 minutes. If you miss the hourly display they have a mini show every 15 minutes – this is not to be missed when visiting Las Vegas!
Overall I would thoroughly recommend everyone to consider a twin centre. Huntington Beach is great for people who love the outdoors, water sports and the laid back feel of life, whilst Las Vegas is not just about gambling, you have options to hop over to the Grand Canyon, see the dazzling shows, shop till you drop, stuff yourself full of great food and dance yourself silly with all the night-life. Another option I would consider trying in the future would be to twin centre America with the Caribbean to capture the perfect mix of city buzz and beach escape all in the same holiday.
So when you are thinking of your next holiday to the Caribbean why not add on 3 nights in Vegas or LA?
