Our Paula spent three years out in Barbados soaking up the Bajan charm, so she’s got a wealth of knowledge up her sleeve when it comes to discovering Barbados. Here she reveals her 8 top tips for making the most of a Bajan getaway on the South Coast.

St Lawrence Gap, Barbados

Forget minding the gap, discover The Gap! St Lawrence Gap is a 1.3km stretch on Barbados’ South Coast that’s buzzing with activity day and night. It’s the place to find somewhere to eat, drink and be merry. Shopaholics, head for your fix.

2. Charlie’s Bar & Grill
Looking for a tasty British classic under sunny skies? Head to Charlie’s Bar & Grill in Oistins for a fantastic Sunday roast just like mum makes back at home.

3. Copacabana Beach Bar & Grill
Discover the new Copacabana Beach Bar & Grill in Bridgetown where you can chill out with live music right on the beach. It’s the place to be on a Sunday afternoon.

4. Oistins Fish Fry
You’ve heard about it, now give it a whirl yourself. Soak up the atmosphere and delicious food at the famous Oistins Fish Fry on a Friday night. Oistins is open 7 days a week so if you’d prefer a quieter evening, there’s plenty of chance to head down.

5. Mount Gay Rum Tour
Jump on the Mount Gay Rum Tour in Bridgetown and discover the history behind Barbados’ finest Mount Gay Rum. There’s plenty to taste too!

6. Catamaran Trip with Turtle Swim
Find your sea legs and head out into the ocean on a catamaran to discover Barbados from the Caribbean sea. Take the chance to get acquainted with the turtles as you join them for a dip. It’s a magical experience.

7. Kensington Oval Cricket
It’s not just your average cricket match. It’s cricket with a twist. Put on your dancing shoes and be ready to enjoy music, dancing, rum, and a fantastic atmosphere at Kensington Oval Cricket Ground, Bridgetown.

Step into the Old Jamm Inn on St Lawrence Gap and soak up jazz music with a live bands and a DJ. Great music, a top atmosphere and tasty drinks. Happy days.
