I couldn’t wait to get my foot through the door of the brand new Excellence El Carmen. A big fan of the Excellence Group philosophy, I’ve enjoyed getaways at all of their resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. So, it was no surprise that this year I made a beeline for Excellence El Carmen.
The Low Down
Excellence Club Junior Suite Ocean View
First impressions? Wow. The amenities are everything you’d expect from the Excellence Group. The Jacuzzi on the balcony is incredible and complete with comfortable lounge furniture, all topped off with stunning views of the ocean.
Down on the beach
The palm-studded beach infuses the sun laden beach with areas of natural shade. There’re plenty of sunbeds on offer to make for a sun-worshipping haven. The resort staff are on hand to supply drinks at your every whim and if you’re looking to stretch your legs, you can walk for miles in either direction.
By the pool
Meet fellow Holidaymakers and have a good old chin-wag down at the main pool. Secluded pools around the resort also offer peaceful areas to chill-out. Not forgetting the Jacuzzi tubs dotted about too.
The Excellence Club
The concierge’s in the Excellence Club don’t half make sure everyone is well looked after! Passionate, friendly, caring and always wearing the warmest of smiles. Everything you could wish for.
Restaurants
Home to the classic Excellence Group restaurants, it’s a given we dined on fine cuisine. My personal favourites were Chez Isabelle, from the restaurant’s fantastic design to my gorgeous filet mignon that was cooked to perfection, Magna where we enjoyed an impeccable romantic dinner, and the Kitchen Table for omelettes like I’d never tasted before.
Bars
Soak up the incredible atmosphere in all of the bars. The staff work the bars with finesse and go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home, in true Excellence style.
Entertainment
Stars is home to great shows filled with Holidaymakers enjoying fine entertainment. The bars are also ready to keep you entertained. Even my wife and I took to the stage for a spot of Karaoke. Greace’s Summer Nights, in case you were wondering.
