Go Scuba Diving in one of the Spectacular Reefs
From peach-coloured fire coral to a number of other colourful varieties, the life-filled waters of Tobago’s Buccoo Reef are a haven for diving enthusiasts. Further to the south of the reef lies a swimming pool formed from corallaine sandbar jutting right out into the ocean, perfect for those wanting to take a dip without donning extra equipment and rumoured to have been named by Princess Margaret during her 1950’s visit. Alternatively, head out on one of the organised glass-bottomed boat tours to see these marvels for yourself without getting your feet wet.
Witness the Famous Pigeon Point
Proclaimed to the be the island’s best beach, Pigeon Point is certainly Tobago’s most photographed attraction. With kite-surfing and wind-surfing galore it is the perfect place for water sports enthusiasts whilst an abundance of food outlets supplies the perfect accompaniment to the meeting of the Atlantic Ocean and balmy Caribbean Sea.
Attend One of the More Unusual Festivals
From the annual Easter Goat Races to the Moriah Ole Time Wedding Parade, Tobagonians know how to party and really jump into the spirit of the festivals. So, if you want to catch a glimpse of a true Tobago knees up, head to one of the unique festivals held on the island and take in the vibrant costumes and shows put on for them.
Head to the Forest Reserve
Take a trip to the oldest protected rain forest in the southern hemisphere, packed to the brim with a whole host of astonishing bird life, intriguing mist-shrouded greenery and the setting for sections of David Attenborough’s acclaimed ‘Trials of Life’ series. For more jaw-dropping natural sights, head to the fantastic Argyle Waterfall, Tobago’s highest waterfall at a whopping 54 meters in height and a truly magnificent spectacle to witness. Nearby wonders include the Rainbow waterfall and Twin Rivers Waterfall among other fantastic natural sights.
