I flew to Mexico for 6 days in July to visit all of the Secrets, Dreams, Now and Zoetry properties. I met with all of the wonderful wedding coordinators, viewed all of the wedding locations and ate lots of wedding cake!
The first stop of the trip was the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun. We arrived late afternoon and were just in time to see the Gazebo from that days wedding before the decorations were taken down. That evening we spotted the wedding party, they had just finished their cocktail hour on the beach and were moving to the tequila terrace for their reception. The terrace is a great location; right by the beach.
The next visit was to Dreams Puerto Aventuras, we saw various locations for ceremonies, cocktails and receptions, but the huge selling point for me was the Wedding Gazebo. The Gazebo overlooks the sea and can be used for either a ceremony or a small reception. With stunning ocean views, having lunch here was one of the highlights of the trip, made even more memorable by the mariachi band that played for us throughout.
After lunch we travelled to Secrets Capri which is a small, adults only, property. With just 291 rooms and Mexican Hacienda style décor, I absolutely loved this property. We had a hosted dinner on the beach in the style of a Wedding Reception with Martina, the wedding coordinator. The reception included a private cocktail bar and a saxophonist who played whilst we enjoyed the amazing food. The location used for beach receptions/ceremonies at this resort is set right on the edge of the beach so it’s quite private.
The fourth resort that we visited was Dreams Tulum which is always a popular resort for weddings due to the on-site Mexican Wedding Chapel. The chapel is very intimate, perfect for small weddings and Wedding couples who wish for privacy during their ceremony. The gardens throughout this resort are immaculate, ideal for Wedding photographs.
The following day we visited Secrets Maroma for a tour of the property including various room types, restaurants and the Bridal suite in the spa where the bride can get ready with her bridesmaids before the big day. The Wedding gazebo at this resort is situated by the pool with wooden pillars and white drapes, it makes for a beautiful setting. However, Secrets Maroma is known for its amazing beach so a beach Wedding is a must when staying at this property.
That afternoon we visited Dreams Riviera Cancun, another extremely popular hotel for weddings. Two weddings were taking place that afternoon and we were lucky enough to see both. The first took place on the beach in one of the beach canopies, the second in the wedding gazebo. The ceremonies were entirely unique; the wedding coordinators really go out of their way to ensure that every wedding is treated on an individual basis and understand that every wedding couple is unique.
Now Jade has always been one of my favourite resorts and I love the amazing pergola and the fountain location available for Wedding ceremonies. However, it’s recommended that the Fountain be used for ceremonies later in the day, around 3/4pm when the area is quieter. The pergola will look great in photos as you have a full ocean view in the background.
We arrived at Dreams Cancun the following day. This resort really is one of a kind due to the fact that it has its own Salt Water Lagoon which is home to several dolphins. Aside from the resident dolphins, the main attraction of this resort as a Wedding destination is the breathtaking Gazebo. Right on the cliff’s edge, you get all round ocean views and it’s extremely private.
Secrets Silversands is an adults only resort with a very modern feel. From its white stone wedding gazebo to the brand new table layouts for wedding receptions (black and silver or gold and red with tiffany chairs), it has a very contemporary feel throughout. They started a beach preservation project in December and have since gained a section of beach; they are also in the process of building a new wine cellar with the capacity of 3000 bottles of wine. I would definitely recommend this resort for a Wedding and the Zen Gardens are a must have location for a cocktail hour prior to the reception.
The final stop before our flight home was Zoetry Paraiso de La Bonita. With just 90 rooms, Zoetry Paraiso is perfect for couples looking for an intimate setting to get married. They have a policy of no more than one wedding per day so you will have the undivided attention of the wedding coordinators and your choice of locations.
Mexico has always been a popular wedding destination and after visiting all of these resorts I can see why. Although all of the properties were from the same chain of hotels, they are all completely unique; there is a perfect property for every couple. The in-resort wedding coordinators were all amazing and so passionate about their jobs; if you are considering a Caribbean wedding and you choose to get married at any of the above properties you can rest assured that you are in good hands.
