Whilst holidaying in the sun-soaked Mexico recently, our very own Craig discovered the incredible experiences offered by TRS Yucatán Hotel – The Royal Suites by Palladium. Here are his top tips for enjoying the resort.
Set in the luxurious Riveria Maya, TRS Yucatan Hotel is a great adults-only retreat in Mexico. With thoroughly 5 star rooms and service, we wanted for nothing and our butler made sure that everything was to our liking.
The hotel was in Quintana Roo, on the tip of Mexico by the Caribbean Sea. Located near some historical sites and the main tourist strip of hotels. Overall the resort was really nice with lots of entertainment and stuff to do.
Our Room
Our room at TRS Yucatán Hotel was the Junior Suite, with a view of the resort. Everything was as expected, and better. The fridge was fully stocked with plenty of alcohol (you request your bottles at the start and we got a bottle of tequila too). There was a large flat-screen TV where you order room service etc. No private pool though, they were on the ground floor only.
Food and Drink at TRS Yucatán Hotel
We really enjoyed the food, especially in the TRS section it seemed to be much higher quality there. The Infinity Pool + Swim Up bars were great. You had the full choice of restaurants across the complex, although the ones out of the TRS section weren’t adults only.
Some of the food was absolutely fantastic, my favourite was the fancy French restaurant. You could arrange your evening meal with your butler as long as you asked before 3pm. You could also make multiple reservations. Room service was great too, especially for breakfast or mid-afternoon. The selection was wide and ordering was done through an app on the TV.
Around the TRS Yucatán Resort
There were two pools in the TRS section, a salty rock pool where the sea washes into it. There was also an infinity pool which had multiple sections. Both pools had a bar and people would take your orders directly from your sun lounger. There were swim up bars but they were in the other sections of the hotel. Getting around was quite straight forward, you could walk through the mangrove trees, or get a lift on one of the electric golf carts.
The Verdict
Overall there was a very distinct ‘natural’ quality to the place, lots of lizards and local wildlife to see. We saw a family of mongeese in the mangroves which was one of the highlights of the trip. A family of raccoons and lots a varieties of birds. It felt like the hotel had gone to lengths to make it in keeping with the local environment.
Top Tips on Enjoying TRS Yucatán Hotel
- Book your show on arrival, you only get to go once, and it’s well worth it. Although you might be better eating beforehand if you’re a picky eater as the food is from a set menu
- You can arrange trips from the sea tour operators a short walk down the beach
- Some restaurants are only open on certain days, so it’s best to get your butler to arrange your evening meal in the morning (before the cut-off time)
- Make sure that you take some US dollars for tipping, as it’s prefered to the local currency
