Although bereft to leave Tamarind behind, as we ventured on with our Barbados exploration we found the warmest of welcomes, and more than one stunning sunset, at Colony Club by Elegant Hotels. A hotel of great beauty, effortless grace, and fantastic home-recipe rum punch, we found ourselves equally as enamored with the Elegant Hotels experience in our newest home away from home:
I felt like I was in paradise at Colony Club! I loved the tranquil gardens which nurtured plenty of relaxing spaces beside the lagoon pools ideal for a peaceful afternoon. The fantastic water sports centre on the beach means that those looking for a more adventurous holiday would also find exactly what they were looking for. I liked the bathing platforms in the sea too, allowing you to swim out and relax on the bobbing ocean. Each Colony Club room is decorated to an exceptionally high standard, and my favourite were the ground floor swim-out rooms with direct access to the lagoon pools!
A unique characteristic of Colony Club is their dedication to wellness, offering regular complimentary yoga and Pilates sessions, and anyone with specific dietary requirements are well catered for with the vast menu choices for gluten free and vegetarian diets. Simply amazing, a hotel for everyone!
The juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary is evident throughout Colony Club, where gourmet cuisine is offered under the high vaulted ceilings of the Laguna Restaurant, and your private terrace (perhaps the Luxury Poolside Suite) is just steps from one of the four lagoon pools. There are delightful surprises at every turn, none more so than in Colony Club’s own vegetable and herb garden which produces many of the ingredients used on the menu! The chef is so proud of the garden that the guests are invited to join a member of the kitchen brigade on a botanical tour every Thursday morning to learn more about the ingredients that create such delicious food.
