Experience the bliss of relaxing in luxury whilst at the Buccament Bay Resort from only £0pp
The next instalment of Chris’ eagerly awaited blog has arrived and is brimming with further details of the wonderful Buccament Bay Resort experience. Days 5 and 6 come courtesy of Liz, Chris’ wife, and highlight even more reasons why you should visit St. Vincent and Buccament Bay Resort!
Day 5 – All Things Relaxing
The focus of this trip has been relaxation, whilst enjoying the little luxuries that each resort has to offer, and Buccament Bay Resort continues to impress us! Whilst I have meandered my way through a selection of champagne and frozen cocktails, Chris has gone down a more traditional route of test driving the locally brewed lager ‘Hairoun’. The beach attendants will happily keep your glass brimming if the mere 50 metre walk to the bars is more than you can manage, and whilst the occasional small tip is greatly appreciated, impeccable service is certainly not dependent upon it. The bountiful array of spirits are premium branded and include the likes of Stolicy vodka, Bombay Sapphire, and Tallisker Whiskey. A selection of three varying white wines, three red wines and a rose is always on offer too.
Lunch centred around me making a repeat trip to see Murphy at the grill, where sumptuous shrimp and scallop skewers and spiced Jerk pork were on the menu. Chris elected to try the Roti, an alluring local Caribbean dish of mildly curried vegetables and chicken in a tortilla style wrap. The sun loungers provide supreme comfort for a serendipitous afternoon nap, especially after the delights of lunch at Murphy’s. We are not talking flimsy plastic, these have a hearty wicker frame, a satisfyingly soft mattress with towelling covers, and fluffy towels set up near the beach attendants each morning on arrival at your chosen spot.
Day 6 – Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho, It’s A Pirates Life For Me
Imagine how delighted I was to discover that the hotel offers a variety of sight seeing trips by boat, with pick-ups directly from the hotel beach – yay, no need to drive anywhere! We narrowly missed the departure for Wallilabou Bay, the authentic location used during filming for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films. Luckily Lesroy, the hotel’s resident chauffeur/guide, cheerfully offered to drive us on a gentle adventure around the leeward side of the island with numerous stops along the way.
We sauntered around the bay for half an hour or so, snapping some spontaneous photos for the album. En-route back to the hotel, Lesroy diverted through a couple of local villages, allowing us to stop several times and admire the dramatic volcanic scenery.
I am jealous beyond belief that Chris and Liz have visited Wallilabou Bay, it is certainly on my check-list of must-see sights on a visit to St. Vincent. Chris and Liz are resident at the Buccament Bay Resort for a couple more days and another update should be hot on the heels of this latest instalment, so stay tuned!
