A bit about Cozumel
Just off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, Cozumel was sacred to ancient Mayan culture, becoming a pilgrimage site for those who desired the blessings of Ix Chel, the Mayan moon goddess. Famed for snorkelling, scuba diving in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and seaside towns known as balnearios, Cozumel is a world all of its own, with its own take on the laid-back holidaymaking of the Mexican-Caribbean. If you're familiar with the Caribbean but new to Mexico, Cozumel is a great place to start.
