There’s a longstanding tradition amongst royalty to break ground in new lands, perhaps plant a tree or place a stone, and leave a little piece of history in their footsteps.

Aptly, that’s precisely the tradition Palace Resorts have adopted, as they announce their first foray into the Antilles with Moon Palace Jamaica Grande, a move received with an appropriately regal fanfare across the board.

Rather than starting something new in the conventional sense, Moon Palace Jamaica Grande is a new outlook for an old resort. Palace Resorts have assumed ownership of Sunset Jamaica Grande, and under their wing we’ll see extensive renovations and a philosophical overhaul bring into being Moon Palace Jamaica Grande.

By their own admission, Palace Resorts aim to set the highest standards for holidays in the Mexican Caribbean, and now we begin to see their signature approach to all inclusive branch out into the wider world.

When we designed our strategic five-year growth plan, we listed several destinations as priorities, and Jamaica was at the top of that list. We believe Jamaica is the most important tourism destination in the Caribbean, and we found Sunset Jamaica Grande to be the perfect opportunity for us to enter this market
– Gibran Chapur, Executive Vice President for Palace Resorts

Picking Jamaica as the starting point was a smooth move. Sitting pretty much smack bang in the centre of the Caribbean Sea, Jamaica has a lot of good stuff to put on its dating profile. The Blue Mountains are heralded as the mecca for the connoisseurs’ coffee, the jungle is begging to be hiked, the cities bustle with vitality, and the beaches seem naturally conceived for an easier way of life. All in all Jamaica’s central location has formed a distinctly cosmopolitan collection of pass times, quite befitting the equally comprehensive gathering of inclusions that have made the name of Palace Resorts over the years.

They don’t hold back either, Palace Resorts. There’s no half measures with their all inclusive programme. Luxurious accommodations. 24 hour room service. World-class dining. Wireless internet. In-room double whirlpool tubs. It’s all the bells and whistles, all in one place. Combine that with a new Jamaican backdrop, and you’ve hit the mother lode of all inclusive holidaymaking.

Sunset Resorts had several options for the future of this iconic resort, but ultimately put their trust in Palace Resorts because of its solid hospitality expertise and proven track record. We felt confident Palace Resorts would respect the hotel’s rich history, its employee culture, and would have the ability to bring a new and exciting brand to Jamaica
– Ian Kerr, Managing Director of Sunset Resorts Jamaica

In the metaphorical nutshell, Moon Palace Jamaica Grade will house 730 guestrooms and suites on a superb 17-acre beachfront featuring the longest stretch of private beach in Ocho Rios. They’ll offer an irresistible cocktail of waterfalls, plunge pools, and swim-up bars, and is exactly the canvas Palace Resorts needed begin their trajectory out of Mexico.

Keep them eyes peeled for more info emerging closer to the opening date in mid 2015, and rest peacefully in the knowledge that our eagle eyes and sleuth noses will hunt out everything there is to know as soon as it beaks the surface. We’re just as excited as you are, no word of a lie.
