A Tour of Cap Cana Part #2 – Delicious Dining at AlSol del Mar

Last time we heard from John Chalmers he was settling in to AlSol del Mar Cap Cana. Today he’s talking us through the delicious dining highlights that set this resort apart.
There are loads of reasons why AlSol del Mar Cap Cana is the place to be, but the dining demands special attention. I’m really enjoying the food, and it adds an extra layer of richness to your stay.

Breakfast is taken in Raices Restaurant where you can dine inside with AC or outside on the terrace. The view is fantastic, stretching across the gardens towards to pool, the ocean, and everything beyond. They offer both a buffet (which works really well for a property as intimate as AlSol del Mar) as well as an à la carte menu.

For lunch there are two à la carte restaurants: Merengue Grill by the Pool and Beach, and Raices (where we just had breakfast). The menu at the Merengue Grill is very good indeed. All the food is cooked to order, so meals can be a leisurely affair which is a great change from our normally busy lives. They also serve food on the beach and around the pool.

The other option, which is new addition since our last visit, is in the Raices Restaurant where (like breakfast) you can dine inside or out. The menu is first class, with wonderful food both in terms of quality and presentation.

Raices Restaurant also serves dinner, where you have the choice of two different menus you can mix and match. The whole dining scene here at AlSol del Mar is highly personalised with outstanding service. Can’t see what you want? If they’ve got the ingredients, the chefs will rustle it up for you. Nothing is too much trouble. The service is absolutely first class, and makes every meal delightful.

This trip to AlSol del Mar has served up some of the best ceviche ever, many excellent fish dishes and melt-in-the-mouth beef. Some holidaymakers temper their dining expectations in the Dominican Republic, but AlSol del Mar puts that to rest. I believe that the food easily competes with the top-end resorts we’ve sampled in Jamaica and Mexico.

In addition to the dining options above you also have room service from 7.00 – 22.30, and given the quality of the food this proves very popular indeed. At night most people just drift back to their suites after their meal; the accommodations are so lush everyone just wants to chill out. Combining that with the excellent food is a no-brainer.

Our time at AlSol del Mar is coming to an end, so if I had to sum up this property in three lines it would be:

•   Casual, condo-style living
•   Seashells galore
•   Relax and unwind

In my next blog I’ll be making a return to one of my favourite Caribbean properties: Sanctuary Cap Cana by AlSol. Stay tuned right here on the Blue Bay Travel blog.
