It really gives the hotel some awesome flavour. The classic Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana WOW factor hits you as soon as you walk through the door. The vibe floats in the air as you make your way around whole resort and has a distinct adrenaline-punching flare down by the activity pools where you’re serenaded with music day and night. That’s before you reach the 750m stretch of sand that carries on for as far as the eye can see.

These rooms are split level so you feel like you’ve bagged yourself a two-bedroom suite without having to pay the extra dollar – another big WIN for the value seekers amongst us. What’s more, with the parents ‘up top’ and the kids on the lower level, you still get some privacy while being able to keep an eye on what they’re up to!

It’s free of charge, increases the longer you stay and, unlike many hotels and resorts, there really are no restrictions to what you can spend it on. The resort is so enthusiastic about you using it that they even have a fully stocked shop where you can spend any credit you haven’t already nailed in the spa! So, if you’re travelling with kids who are always looking for souvenirs and mementos of their holiday or me, for that matter, real money is actually optional here and it won’t cost you more than you’d budgeted for.

With a 1,500 seat purpose built theatre hosting live music and shows twice each evening (an early kids focussed version and a later performance for the older kids and adults), Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana really have thought of everything to keep you and your family entertained. You can’t turn a corner without being reminded what the resort is all about. Throw in the fact that you can hire Fender Stratocasters by the day to rock-out in your room and your getaway is already turning into a rock star experience. Don’t worry, they provide headphones!

Get your adrenaline pumping at Stingray City swimming with stingrays and sharks (yes, sharks!), keep it chill leisurely horseback riding along the beach, get cultured learning local intel about the Dominican Republic with a history tour. My top recommendation, grab the chance to experience the Moon Rockers Tour. Climb on-board buggies complete with helmet and set off on a somewhat bumpy adventure to soak up the sights of the Dominican Republic. You’ll be off roading through the jungle, tasting fresh coconut en route and discovering a beautifully secluded beach. Incredible.
