Steph headed off to the Dominican Republic for a well-earned getaway in Punta Cana with her mum. She kick-started her holiday with an activity packed time at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana before turning things a little more chill at Excellence Punta Cana. With a getaway of two equally amazing halves, she was shouting BINGO! Literally.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana was a great way to start my getaway. I was looking for entertainment and I certainly go it. There’s always something going on. There was Spanish dancing lessons, music quizzes by the pool, and for those wanting to take a break from sun worshipping there was even water aerobics. I gave the water aerobics a spin twice during my stay and had a good old laugh. I have to admit, the highlight had to be the classic Hard Rock Foam Party which takes place on a Friday. One pool, mountains of glorious foam, a soundtrack of top tunes, and plenty of fun; awesome!
The entertainment team at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana work hard to make sure you’re always fully entertained. They even had me up at the mic doing my best tribute in the Sun Lounge karaoke bar. But, I have to admit, it was just the one. I spent the other evenings watching others take to the stage as I sat and enjoyed soaking up the Hard Rock Hotel vibe. After the karaoke finished for the evening, we headed to Oro nightclub to carry on the party. We didn’t quite make it until it closed at 5:00am, but that challenge is yours, Holidaymakers.
Excellence Punta Cana
For the second half of our getaway we headed to Excellence Punta Cana. Fear not, there was still plenty of exciting things going on to keep us entertained. There were activities round the main pool from Spanish lessons ‘Ola!’ to the art of bracelet making. Which, turned out to be a top way to get, well indeed make, those getaway gifts to take back home. We also had a cheeky game of bingo. After calling a full house we were the lucky winners of a free hydrotherapy treatment in the spa. Not bad for a fun night’s work.
By night we enjoyed being serenaded with music in the main lounge followed by a theatre showstopper. The Michael Jackson tribute stood out the most to me. It was incredible. As if being wowed by the theatre wasn’t enough, we then soaked up some live music and headed to the disco for that sought after boogie.
Eco Park
Excellence Punta Cana has its very own eco park that Holidaymakers are free to take a stroll around at any time. I enjoyed escaping into the oasis of animals and plants; soaking up the sights and sounds of wildlife. There were flamingos, iguanas, macaw parrots and so much more. One thing I did learn was that the parrots enjoy searching for shiny things, they even had a beady eye for my ring! Well, it is a very nice ring I have to say! If this jungle vibe didn’t satisfy my love of animals enough, there was horse-riding along the beach too. One thing that will stay fixed firmly in my memory about Excellence Punta Cana is the turtles they have swimming around in the reception area. Adorable.
