Leigh-Anne Explores Beaches Resorts in Jamaica

17/01/2016Leigh-Anne

For Leigh-Anne, one of the most important factors when planning a getaway is making sure her two pre-schoolers will be happy. After all, happy junior Holidaymakers means happy adult Holidaymakers too. So, on her journey to discover Jamaica, Leigh-Anne scooped the opportunity to spec out some of the top places to take her family. She was treated to an inside look at Beaches Ocho Rios and Beaches Negril.

Entertainment For All Holidaymakers

Beaches Resorts are known for their family friendly goodness. And, true to form, they put a big fat juicy tick in all boxes family-friendly. There is something for babies right through to teenagers at Beaches Ocho Rios and Beaches Negril. From a special Kid’s Club to an Xbox play lounge and even a night club for the teens to hang out. All Holidaymakers are kept well entertained.Beaches Elmo

Getting into Character

Beaches Resorts are also known for their love of Seasame Street. All of the kid’s areas in the hotel are branded with Seasame Street characters, and it’s quite usual to see the characters themselves wondering around Beaches Ocho Rios and Beaches Negril, saying hello and providing top class entertainment. Where else would Elmo be other than sunning himself in the Caribbean?

For a little extra, junior Holidaymakers can be entertained with activities from baking cookies with the Cookie Monster to character stories read at bedtime. I’d certainly like to give that cookie class a spin; they look incredible!

Pirate Island

Both Beaches Ocho Rios and Beaches Negril have an intimate Pirate Island waterpark specifically for the younger Holidaymakers to enjoy a splash around. The pools are supervised by lifeguards at all times so you can be more at ease while the little ones have fun in the water. What’s more, the park is completely free for guests to use. Pirate Island provides a miniature heaven for the junior Holidaymakers complete with with toddler sized deck chairs and sun loungers so they could feel part of the show.

Jamaica Day

I was lucky enough to experience Beaches Negril’s weekly Jamaica Day. The premise was simple: to celebrate Jamaica! All the hotel staff dressed in colours from the Jamaican flag, there was traditional reggae music playing, and flags were flying around the resort.  The atmosphere was fantastic with Holidaymakers from all over getting involved, soaking up the Jamaican culture and celebrating the country they’d come to discover.

Down on the beach there was a feast of traditional Jamaican cuisine serving jerk chicken, jerk pork, curried goat, pumpkin rice… delicious. The afternoon continued with a host of activities from a cooking show to a dancing competition. It was great to see how passionate the staff were about their culture. The shows were also fantastic for the junior Holidaymakers too who were able to join in the fun and soak up the Jamaican culture at the same time. I ended the day feeling very warm inside. Top class family entertainment.

Sandals Negril

And something the the adults? If you’re after a stunning sunset on the beach, take a trip to Negril. The sunset from Sandals Negril was truly breathtaking.
