Fertile volcanic soil yields an abundance of fresh produce, including several types of bananas, mangos, papayas, pineapples, passion fruits, guavas and coconuts. Local chefs combine this incredible bounty with a wide variety of fresh seafood to create tantalising curries, creole-style delicacies and pepper pot stews.

Climate

Saint Lucia lies in the path of the north-east trade winds, adding refreshing breezes year-round. July and August are the hottest months, but even December and January can be wonderfully mild. Occasional rainfall occurs June - November, but most commonly in short, sharp showers.
