Situated on the beautiful Rodney Bay in St Lucia is the newly refurbished and stylish Harbor Club. Here you can find a variety of delectable dining options, incredible amenities, and a lavish spa. Along with all of this, the luxurious rooms provide a comfortable stay with stunning views.

This charming resort offers a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway for all, and Chairman’s Club member Steve took advantage of this and booked a magnificent stay away with his wife.

We’ve asked Steve to break down his trip, and to let us know what his thoughts on his escape to the Harbor Club were.

From his opinions on the resort to his airport experience. Let’s pass it over to Steve!

Welcome to Harbor Club

Let’s start from the beginning of your trip, how was the airport experience in the UK?

There were no issues at all, we went straight through.

What was it like upon arrival in St Lucia?

It was very well organised. There was a separate tent where you queued up in, with several partitioned areas. You sat down with a member of the staff to show them all your vaccination and authorisation papers. Once they had stamped them, you were given a white wristband to prove that you had passed.

The next stage was to exit the building and go into the main border control building. There were the normal goings on in here, you show your passport and other papers, once all is good you leave to pick up your resort transfer.

Were there any Covid tests in resort?

You had to go and see the nurse every day before breakfast to have your temperature taken and recorded. You were then given a coloured band, these were different colours on different days, to prove that you were okay. Otherwise, they wouldn’t let you in for breakfast. You could order a test and the doctor would come to the hotel to do it.

Did travelling during Covid impact your stay in any way? Was anything different at the hotel in terms of service/experience?

Probably the worst part was that everything closed at 7pm outside of the resort, and from Saturday 4pm to Monday 4am there was a lockdown. The bar in the hotel shut at 10pm every night too.

There was also the same menu for the 2 weeks that we were at Harbor Club. However, if you asked the chef for something different, and gave them plenty of notice and they had the ingredients, they would always try and cook what you asked for.

They cooked me a seafood chowder, which was absolutely spot on. The food, although limited, was good.

How was Harbour Club?

It was clean, friendly, and the staff are brilliant. Even though they didn’t have many guests to serve, nothing was too much bother for them. They would always help you where they could. They even sorted a water taxi to Pigeon Island for us.

The rooms are lovely, especially the ones that face the harbour, spacious as well.

There was only one restaurant open during our stay, which was table service only, but the sushi is definitely worth trying as Ricardo, the sushi chef, makes it fresh for you.

What did you love most about Harbor Club?

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere, even when eating and drinking in local bars they would always stop and chat.

Were you able to go on any excursions?

We did the catamaran and waterfall/hot spring pool excursion. To be honest the catamaran excursion was brilliant, there was good food, music, and funny staff.

The waterfall isn’t really worth the effort as you are in and out of it in a couple of minutes, and you are not allowed to swim in it. The hot spring pool can be good fun if you can handle the heat and like getting covered in mud.

Did you get to visit Pigeon Island?

We went to Pigeon Island a couple of times, once by water taxi and then by car. It has a lovely beach area, and the water is as clear as you would expect it to be.

At Joe’s Bar and Grill you can sit at all day and eat, drink, and chat to everyone. One of the friends we made out there said that they were the best ribs he had ever tasted and they just fell off the bone.

There are also a few little shops to look at. If you paid $10 you could walk up to the fort, which we never did due to having too much food and drink! There are toilets too which have attendants on them, you do have to pay a dollar to use them, but they are clean.

What was the best part of your holiday?

I don’t think there was a best part, as we loved every minute of it. If anything, it was the lack of people at the hotel, which isn’t good for the staff. But, it did make loads of room around the pool, and most of the time we had a pool to ourselves. The lack of guests also gave us more time to chat with the staff.
