Chloe’s chill-out spree at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun keeps going strong, and in this instalment Chloe takes a bunch of dining options for a whirl.
Rays and Relish
Another day in paradise, with clear blue skies and turquoise waters enjoyed from the balcony. I’d slept like the proverbial baby on the plush king size bed at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, and seeing that view made me hungry to soak up some rays. We hooked up with Carlos again to book some excursions we’d discussed the previous day. CoCo Bongo’s was top of the list, so we booked a VIP Gold Member ticket for later in our journey – you’ll hear all about it soon!
We spent the rest of the morning lost in books, lifting our heads only when the waiter came round for our drinks order. The afternoon soon rolled around with the familiar smell of the barbeque drifting past the pool area from the Barefoot Grill. The Barefoot Grill always has a variety of freshly cooked deliciousness: grilled fish, fresh salad, tacos, seasoned chips and fresh desserts. The burgers we’re huge to say the least! They also did an amazing onion, tomato and coriander relish – I couldn’t get enough of it!
Barefoot and beautiful
After having a bite to eat we headed down to the beach to walk it off. The sand felt so lovely on my feet, as did the gentle breeze and the lapping of the ocean – it was perfect. Before we headed back up to the pool area we decided to grab a drink at the beach bar. Instead of traditional bar stools the seats were swings around the bar area and offered true barefoot elegance. You could still get all your favourite drinks at the beach bar including cocktails, beers, wines and spirits. To wrap up our barefoot day, we spent the final hours in the sunshine floating around the pool and enjoying yet more delicious cocktails at the swim up pool bar Manatees.
The time had come around again to head up to the room and get ready for the evening ahead. That evening we were dining at Bordeaux, an a la carte French fine restaurant. The Chardonnay at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun was lovely; I believe the brand was Antares (which sadly isn’t available in the UK). Even under the influence of the wine, it was obvious that Bordeaux was gorgeous. It had a traditional, intimate French château feel and a really romantic atmosphere. There were even private dining areas set aside from the main dining room, perfect for any special occasion. The food was absolutely impeccable, and I can highly recommend the Beef Bourginignon – delicious!
Drinks and Dancing
Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun makes an excellent job of providing a la carte dining and endless menu choices. I was able to try loads of dishes I wouldn’t normally be able to find back home, and every meal was delicious.
Shortly after finishing our meal at Bordeaux we headed over to Desires, the music lounge at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, where the party went on until the early hours. They played a variety of recent, well known music and everyone was up and dancing around the dance floor and bar. Tequila chasers we definitely the aim of the game in here; it was so much fun! There were a variety of tequilas available, so you could have a different one after each drink if you wanted – just prepare yourself for a sore head in the morning! It was getting late and they were shutting up the bar, so we took that as our queue to leave and headed back to the room and called it a night. A wonderful end to an amazing day.
