Chloe’s Mexican Escapade – The Last Light of Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

23/03/2015Chloe

The end is nigh for Chloe’s time at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, but there’s still some relaxing to get done. Thus Chloe keeps it chill, and has jolly good time upturning the remaining stones at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun.

Start as you mean to go on

Being the outgoing foodies that we are, we decided to ensure that we covered all culinary bases at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. We took our evening meal at Portofino; it was so romantic sitting outside on the terrace, with the stringed lights above the gazebo and candles on each table. The atmosphere was simply indescribable. And here’s a fun fact: the menus were on iPads, which was genius. There were clear images of the dishes for everything you’d order, and what you saw is what you got. I opted for the Parmesan Chicken and my boyfriend opted for the Lobster Ravioli. Both dishes were divine and Portofino became a firm favourite. The service was excellent too; any time our glasses were 3 quarters empty the waiter would offer a top up. Absolutely top class.

After our meal we decided to have a walk on the beach. It was so peaceful, not a soul in sight. You could see the hotel zone of Cancun around the coast lit up in all its glory, which created a wonderfully dramatic contrast from the peacefulness of the beach at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. We took a perch on one of the beach cabanas and took in the beauty of the surroundings – it was so beautiful and romantic. I couldn’t believe we were more than half way through our stay at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun already. I never wanted it to end.

Alsa, poor wallet

We had the opportunity to head into Playa Del Carmen, and we jumped at the chance. Playa Del Carmen is brimming with cultural and commercial attractions, including the renowned 5th Avenue. There was so much to take in when we walked down 5th Avenue: designer shops, local bars, restaurants, tourist shops and much more. It’s a must for any shopaholic, with world renowned brands such as MAC and Hugo Boss. I would have loved to have visited during an evening; I imagine it’s a buzzing centre of Mexican vitality.

The stars at the end

Before we knew it our last full day at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun was upon us – it came around so quick! We’d pre-booked breakfast in bed a few days earlier with Mar, our concierge, and we enjoyed our last day in complete luxury right from the word go. We had various continental items with sweet pastries, fresh fruit, jams and toast, accompanied by Mimosas, fresh hot coffee and fruit juice.

The evening soon drew in and we headed out for our last meal at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. We decided to return to Portofino and enjoy a peaceful meal at our favourite restaurant. The food as always was amazing and we savoured every mouthful. After dinner we headed down to the beach for one final time, gazing at the stars – it was so beautiful. It was definitely going to be an emotional goodbye tomorrow!
