Bacolet Beach Club: Everything you need to know
Personal Travel Advisor Hayley Weaver recently headed for Bacolet Beach Club resort in Trinidad & Tobago. Find out what she found One of our Personal Travel Advisors, Hayley Weaver, recently jetted off to see the wonders of Trinidad & Tobago. She took in the sights and sounds of the island from the comfort of Bacolet Beach Club. So we’ll hand over to Hayley to see how she got on in Tobago. First impressions matter The stunning Bacolet Beach Club, Trinidad & Tobago, is a boutique resort aimed at delivering complete relaxation. From its beautifully secluded location you get the use of a private beach. We got to experience unforgettable views out over the Caribbean Sea from the hotel’s elevated position in the Tobagan hillside. Surrounded by lush palm trees and a coved beach, Bacolet Beach Club definitely fit with a typical Caribbean theme. With its ‘shack’ Beach Bar it’s perfectly suited for guests looking for a quaint and chilled getaway. Mixed within the community, it gives you a real feel for the true Caribbean life. The humble abode The rooms at the resort were beautifully spacious. Superior Rooms and Tower Suites benefit from amazing views over the ocean. We stayed in the Superior Room Ocean View and were bowled over by how light and airy it was. The Vibe Bacolet Beach Club is targeted at couples who are looking to get away from it all. There’s no entertainment at the resort or music played around the pool areas. However, most people take advantage of the stunning coved beach in the daytime. Heading out on snorkelling trips, swimming in the ocean or chilling at the beach bar which does have music playing. The tranquil environment means the resort is perfect for those looking for a quiet escape from everyday life. Have your own break We loved the amazingly chilled environment at Bacolet Beach Club. But when we wanted to dial up the party during our stay we made the short journey to Scarborough. The local town is a 25-minute walk away, or a 5 minute taxi that cost us $30 Tobagan Dollars (TTD), approximately £3.50. In Scarborough you can find a range of restaurants and bars, so you can have as lively or chilled an experience as you like in Trinidad & Tobago. Although the hotel is extremely relaxed, you don’t have to stay put. We booked an island tour and a day trip to Pigeon Point through the excursions team at the resort. They turned out to be a couple of the most memorable days we spent in Trindad & Tobago. Excursions A return trip to Pigeon Point for the day cost us $120 TTD and an extra $20 TTD for access to the Heritage Park. You can also pay an additional $30 TTD to secure a sunbed at the beach if you like. “Despite the costs, this was my favourite day, definitely worth the expense!” Pigeon Point As part of the Pigeon Point trip we took a ride on a glass bottom boat so we could see the stunning sights of the coral reef. This also included 20 minutes of snorkelling in the ocean before we headed on to Nylon Pool for 45 minutes. Nylon Pool is a shallow white ground coral pool within the sea which gets its name because of its resemblance to a swimming pool. Island Tour Excursion The second excursion we booked was the island tour. This was a little more expensive than the Pigeon Point trip, but it was a brilliant way to see more of the Caribbean. We booked it through Bacolet Beach Club and enjoyed a packed lunch from the resort during the trip which saw us exploring the other beaches and bays around the island with more swimming and snorkelling. Top Tip! If you suffer from travel sickness you might want to bring some tablets on the island tour. Our driver was brilliant, but we had to negotiate some pretty challenging roads. If an immersive Caribbean experience at Bacolet Beach Club, Trinidad & Tobago sounds like it could be just what you need to get away from it all.
