The Eastern Caribbean is often associated with the trade of spices, and Grenada's long history with nutmeg has centralised its position in global mercantile narratives. Lasting legacies from these days of colonial culture live on, reformed as the luxurious resorts that shine a spotlight on Grenadian tourism. Untouched white-and-blue seascapes exist peacefully alongside world-class holiday destinations and authentic Caribbean escapes, making Grenada the connoisseur's choice for an upmarket long-haul holiday.

Culture

The official language in Grenada is English, flavoured with creole dialects. The largest proportion of the population has African heritage, and calypso music is very popular throughout the island.

Cuisine

Holidaymakers who choose Grenada indulge in some of the most exciting cuisine the Caribbean has to offer, ranging from native Grenadian fare of fresh local produce to fine international dining. One popular local favourite is callaloo soup, a melange of fresh local seafood and meats prepared with a West Indian flare.

Beaches

Due to its mountainous interior, Grenada possesses an irregular coastline populated with nooks and crannies that shelter cosy inlets. These secluded beaches seem untouched from the time the island rose from the sea, including the most famous stretch of sand, the two-mile-long Grand Anse.

Climate

Average temperatures range between 24°C - 30°C, tempered by the steady refreshment of the trade winds. The lowest temperatures are November - February, and the driest season is January - May. Grenada's remarkable undulating topography creates micro-climates based on altitude, and even during the rainy season June - December it rarely rains for more than an hour at a time.
