The Atlantis Hotel
Historic, yet stylish, The Atlantis Hotel was one of the first hotels to exist on the East Coast of Barbados. An elegant property dating back to the 1800s, this boutique Barbados hotel is located in the quaint fishing village of Tent Bay, St. Joseph, overlooking the stunning Atlantic Ocean. The spectacular position of the hotel on Barbados' east coast allows for a constant, but cooling and delightful breeze. The oversized rooms are seriously romantic - imagine throwing open your bedroom shutters to the wild Atlantic Ocean waves, slipping back into the luxury of your four poster bed and watching the sun rise in the Caribbean - this is the place to do it. The hotel is family run by owners who understand the meaning of unpretentious luxury, meaning this delightful escape is the perfect spot to spend a holiday relaxing.
The Atlantis Hotel Price Chart
Completed in December 2009, The Atlantis Hotel now offers eight gorgeous oversized rooms in the main building, directly overlooking the ocean's rolling surf, and two fully equipped two-bedroom apartments located next to the pool. The cool décor includes paintwork in muted shades with splashes of coloured fabrics and lots of wood.
All bedrooms are air-conditioned, plus ceiling fans, private shower, bathrobes and amenities, cable TV, ipod docking, radio, mini fridge, keyed mini-safe, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities
Spacious rooms with king bed and sitting area, located in the main building overlooking the ocean. Three are slightly larger with a pull out sofa bed (extra person on request only)
Self-contained 2-bedroom apartments next to the pool, ideal for families. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and the second bedroom has twin beds, each with a shared bathroom.
The Atlantis Restaurant
The Atlantis Restaurant serves delicious food and a great choice of wines, personally selected by the owner. It has gathered a strong local following over the years and become known as 'the' place for Sunday lunch including a West Indian buffet - a long standing tradition of the original hotel now updated to create a stylish setting and the most delicious Caribbean flavours. The chefs take pride in creating menus using only fresh local produce, seafoods and meats.
The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the exception of Sunday nights and reservations are strongly encouraged, especially for the buffets.

Bath is a beautiful uncommercialised beach, well protected from the Atlantic breakers by a coral reef. Bath is an excellent venue for picnics, and as it is off the beaten track, is seldom overrun with visitors. You’ll probably be the only ones on the beach! There’s also a small bar where you can grab a few beers and some picnic tables to eat at if you wish.
Bathsheba used to be the summer resort for the Barbadian upper class who would enjoy their afternoon drinks in the rock pools. Later, this popular Barbados beach became a surfing hotspot and hangout for the hippy jet set. If there’s a large swell, stop by the famous Soup Bowl and witness local and pro surfers at their best. Parlour, which is adjacent to Soup Bowl, offers picnic tables and shady areas for you to spend the day. Be sure to ask a local where is the best spot to take a dip as there are some areas with strong currents you should avoid.
The East coast of Barbados offers some of the best waves this island (and the Caribbean) has to offer. Soup Bowl is the most famous break and attracts surfers throughout the year. The best time however is in the winter months as cold weather from the North pushes large Atlantic swells down to the island.
Orchid World is located in the middle of sugar cane fields overlooking the St. George valley. This Barbados garden displays an extraordinary wide array of orchids; a must see for the horticulturalist!
Welchman Hall Gully
A gully is a sunken riverbed, which carries the original tropical vegetation of Barbados. In Welchman Hall Gully human hands helped a little to create a most beautiful park leading through the valley. You will be mesmerized by the number of ancient trees that exist in this gully and there is a bit of history on plaques in front of each species of tree.
